A new pioneer project is currently underway at Capital Region Pharmacy. Nomeco HealthCare Logistics has placed a refrigerator at the pharmacy, which functions as a kind of mini bar similar to that in hotels.

This means that the hospital pharmacy only purchases the preparation when it is taken from the refrigerator – and until then, it is owned by the manufacturer. The refrigerator is approved by the Danish Medicines Agency and is owned and maintained by Nomeco.

'Nomeco OnSite Stock' is especially suitable for medicines that are used in hospital treatments and, because of the price, short shelf-life or low use frequency, are not normally stocked in the hospital pharmacies.

"'Nomeco OnSite Stock' is an advantage for the hospital pharmacy as in this way they have easy access to the otherwise non-stocked preparations. Consequently, the time it normally takes to get urgent deliveries from Nomeco is optimised and the time from ordering to commencement of treatment is reduced. At the same time it is an advantage for the manufacturer which ensures high availability of its preparations and which also gets full control of the supply chain as well as direct connection to the hospital pharmacy," explains Key Account Manager, Pia Berg from Nomeco HCL.

She emphasises that OnSite Stock is a win-win situation where the industry can provide better service to the hospital pharmacy and consequently the hospital ward, and where the hospital pharmacy gets fast and easy access to products that are normally not stocked.
