From 1998 to February 2012 all shares in Nomeco were owned by the Finnish company Tamro who was owned by the German group Phoenix since 2004.

Nomeco is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the German group Phoenix, the world’s fifth largest pharmaceutical wholesaler. In Europe Phoenix is the second largest measured by turnover and the largest measured by geographic presence.

Phoenix is represented in 23 European countries and is market leader in Germany, Italy, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The purchase of Tamro in 2004 also made Phoenix the largest wholesaler in Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Latvia and Lithuania. Phoenix's most important business areas are the operation of pharmacies, wholesale and pre-wholesale.
