From 1998 to February 2012 all shares in Nomeco were owned by the Finnish company Tamro who was owned by the German group PHOENIX group since 2004.

Nomeco is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the German PHOENIX group, the world’s fifth largest pharmaceutical wholesaler. In Europe PHOENIX group is the second largest measured by turnover and the largest measured by geographic presence.

PHOENIX group is represented in 23 European countries and is market leader in Germany, Italy, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The purchase of Tamro in 2004 also made PHOENIX group the largest wholesaler in Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Latvia and Lithuania. Phoenix's most important business areas are the operation of pharmacies, wholesale and pre-wholesale.
